DAVID BROST

David Brost has spent the last 20 years designing and building cars here at Steve’s Auto Restorations. Unlike many designers, Dave enjoys a hands-on approach and spends much of his time elbows deep in a project’s construction. He graduated from Oregon State University with a degree in graphic design, but his passion for antique and custom cars led him to pursue a career in the custom automotive industry. Dave’s most notable completed design to date is probably the 1937 German Ford dubbed Baron von Kuhl, which can be viewed in “completed projects.” He redesigned the concept three times in ten years before the project began to gather steam, but the final product has earned immense recognition. Some of the Baron’s accolades include Best of Show at the Portland and Seattle Roadster shows, as well as a first place finish at both the Rodeo Drive and Forest Grove Concours. Dave’s latest creation is the heavily modified ’57 F100 pickup under construction in “current projects,” and it is sure to be a hit when it finally debuts. (Click image for more pics)

ERIC BLACK

Eric is a young and very talented designer who lives and works here in Portland. Although he graduated from the University of Oregon with a degree in architecture and makes his living as an architect and furniture designer/builder, Eric’s passion for automotive design fills much of his free time. He is an automotive design consultant for “VolksWorld” magazine, and has perfected a unique design process that allows him to make rapid changes to an image without compromising quality. Eric posseses an undeniable talent and an almost photographic eye for detail, but his ability to approach streetrod design with a unique perspective may be one of his greatest assets. JASON RUSHFORTH

Jason grew up in nearby Tacoma, Washington, and began honing his design skills by modifying and sketching his Hot Wheels. His natural talent for design and passion for all things automotive continued to develop with age, and led him to pursue a degree in Commercial Design from the Northwest College of Art in Poulsbo, Wa. After graduation he set out to follow in the footsteps of his greatest influences, Steve Stanford, Thom Taylor, and Chip Foose, and design hot rods professionally. Having clearly made the right decision, Jason’s abilities never fail to impress. (Click image for more pics)

CHRIS ITO

Chris Ito, a graduate of the prestigious Art Center College of Design, is responsible for penning some of the most influential cars to be built under the SAR roof. By the age of ten the Oregon native was enrolled in community college art and oil painting classes, and he began his first Hot Rod project, a ’40 Ford Pickup, at the age of fifteen. His passion for cars and art led him to pursue training at Art Center College of Design in hopes of realizing a career designing specialty vehicles and concept cars. Shortly after graduation Chris was hired by specialty car manufacturer ASC Inc., and then won a new Ford Mustang convertible as the grand prize in "The Design Your Vision of the Next Generation Mustang" contest in 1992. Steve and Chris were introduced in the late ’90’s by a mutual friend, and soon discovered they shared a vision to create an elegant and contemporary 1933 Ford Roadster to pursue the America’s Most Beautiful Roadster trophy. Their first collaboration resulted in the cutting-edge Double Dozen Roadster, and was soon followed by the revolutionary ’55 Chevy NewMad. Chris and Steve will undoubtedly carry on their winning ways with their latest collaboration, the ’33 Dodge Ram Rod. (Click image for more pics)
