This very nice 1939 Lincoln Zephyr Sedan is getting ready to go under “the knife” for some extreme alterations. The car is going to be lengthened 40 inches and widened at the “B” pillar 8 inches. After these two operations were completed a “step back” and a “look see” determined that it would be necessary to “chop” the roof adding to the major modifications. The suspension is going to be engineered and upgraded to F150 components to accommodate the dimensional differences and the added weight of an electric motor and the necessary battery pack. The car will then be set up to take on a modern Siemens 5135 electrically operated drivetrain. The list of modifications will include door solenoids, flip down lisc. plate, welded on fenders and trunk, widened grille, rain gutter removal, hidden hinges, emblem removal, and rear window reforming. The bumpers, cowl vent, and lower door portions will be removed also. All of these modifications made it necessary to mount the body on a surface plate to insure accuracy in the alteration process.
