1937 German Coach Built Ford
"Baron Von Kuhl"
Available Custom
Steve’s Auto Restorations turned this ultra-rare German coach-built ’37 Ford into a one-off custom designed street rod, adding elegance, refined style and performance to this European Ford. Extensive sheet metal fabrication was required to create the updated body lines while taking special care to preserve its unique European heritage.
The fixed steel windshield, roll up windows and folding top were replaced with a custom Duvall-style windshield, roadster-style door tops and a hand formed aluminum Carson-style hardtop. The windshield was moved rearward, the hood lengthened, a custom handmade ’37 Ford inspired grille and newly fabricated hood sides were handmade to complete the front end redesign.

Original ’37 Ford front fenders with ’39 Ford headlights were blended into one-off running boards, attached to custom rear fenders with ’39 Lincoln tail lights. A custom reverse fender reveal runs the length of the fenders and running boards. Hand shaped, chrome plated fender trim (inspired by the Mercedes Benz 540K) was added to each fender reveal. The original rear trunk was replaced with a completely hand-crafted rear body panel that flows from the roof line.

Inside, the cabin features seating and panels covered in high quality furniture grade leather. Dash inserts are adorned with a hand painted mother-of-pearl effect. Modern gauges retain the original German-language markings.
Comfort amenities include, power seats, stereo, AC, tilt steering column, power steering, power disc brakes and automatic transmission. Chassis features include, 4-wheel independent suspension, 4-wheel power disc brakes, Ford C6 automatic transmission and Ford SVO 514 crate engine with EFI.
